Aspen ROQ-4 NP-1 Battery Charger

I've got this charger.

Solid Red: Charging
Flashing Amber: Charge Waiting
Flashing Green: Discharging (fan running)
Solid Amber: Discharge Waiting
Flashing Red: Battery Voltage too high or too low to charge
Solid Green: Fully Charged / Trickle Charging

The amber looks like orange to me as well (slight color deficiency).

Anton Bauer bought Aspen, changed the name to Askept???? and then immediately discontinued any NP1 style batteries and chargers. IDX still makes NP1's and I just added a JL-2Plus Multiformat Charger / Power Supply that can charge any format NP1 (NiCad, NiMH and LithIon). It's uses the Negative Delta -V charge termination method just like the Aspen ROQ-4.

Anyone out there charge IDX NiMH batteries in the Aspen charger or Aspens in the IDX charger? The great thing about the IDX JL 2Plus is that it's fairly small and flat (fits in a comtek box) and has a 60W 4.3a power supply built in. I hot wired a DC jack into my BDS NP1 cup so I can hot swap batteries without shutting down or run on two NP1's in parallel. If I'm in a fixed location, I'll use the JL-2P to AC power the whole bag (442 / 3 205's / 2 Envoy xmits / 2 Comteks) so I don't burn down batteries. Everything on my bag is powered off the BDS and in needs about 3+ amps. The largest wall wart you can find is about 2 amps, that's why the JL-2Plus is a great multifunction charger/power supply. Just something to think about.
